Amaranthine Dreams.
This nonprofit started by a team of friends strives to incorporate community, creativity, and compassion. I have a weekly blog there, and we post lots of aesthetic photos. Our website also has some art galleries, some collections of stories (coming soon), and some fictional written works (check some of mine out). Go to the website by clicking the link below and simply be inspired. You can also donate to an organization that the program has selected for the year, or submit some of your work. We'd love to hear from you.
Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Conference.
I attended this organization's first conference and was completely inspired. It truly served its purpose of connecting youth to their Asian communities and really valuing and being proud of their Asian heritage. I made lots of connections during the networking session and also built a few relationships. I learned about other peoples' work in the Asian community and, from that, joined with various organizations to start making a difference.

Cityteam.
This program helps people get back on their feet, often from the streets or very trying situations. Programs feed the homeless or needy. I enjoy volunteering at the monthly free medical clinic, and I meet new and inspiring people every week. Learn more about donating or volunteering by clicking on the link below.
Hope of Glory Ministries.
This program helps children of South Africa receive valuable help and safety, especially during those dangerous after school hours. My family supports a really cute "sponsor brother" named Katlego, and I've enjoyed sewing pillowcase dresses for many of the girls involved in the program. You can donate by clicking on the link below. Watch the video of previous "sponsor brother" we supported as well (his actual name is Francis).
Humane Society.
I've always loved attending the summer camps at the humane society and learning about animals, adoption, and prevalent issues concerning animal care. Through volunteering, too, I've had the chance to meet many furry friends and play with or pet them–and my family adopted a rescue dog after fostering him! Check out the website to find volunteering, donation, or adoption/foster opportunities and swing by for a visit. You can even request to sit in with a pup or feline to get to know them. Or, consider fostering if you are unable to commit long-term. #adoptnotshop
Kaiser Permanente.
I have the amazing opportunity to volunteer at Kaiser Permanente, helping out in whatever way I can. It's such a satisfying way to give back to the community and hospital which has provided me with so much support (in fact, I was born in the hospital I volunteer in!). Like my mother, I hope that my volunteer experience leads me to pursue my passions in the medical field further.
National Park Service.
I LOVE national parks. Each year, my family visits new national parks, state parks, and national monuments each year, exploring the country. Not only do you get to enjoy fresh air, being surrounded by nature, and the pure silence that comes from the absence of city life, but you can also help the parks be preserved. By being educated, you learn about how to preserve nature, and being surrounded by wildlife and plants, you feel the importance of preserving the delicate ecosystem. The entrance fees to the park also go toward preservation. Also, if you are a child (or young adult), you can request a junior ranger booklet from a ranger station. Once filled out, you can turn it in and get a junior ranger badge (or patch), and you are officially a junior ranger. Currently, I am a junior ranger of over 50 national parks and monuments, and I've visited about a third of all national parks. Go adventure!
Operation Christmas Child.
Every fall season, I pack a shoebox through this organization, which is part of Salvation Army. Shoeboxes are like Christmas presents for children that don't usually receive gifts. Not only is it fun to do, but knowing that it will make a child extremely happy is inspiring. Simple things that we take for granted, like soap, dolls, toothpaste, and pens can mean the world for someone who receives a shoebox. And you can also donate to have someone pack a shoebox for you, if you are unable to pack it yourself.
Partners INternational.
Through this organization, my family sponsors a girl in need around my age. Sponsorships provide children with an education, school supplies, transportation, and other basic necessities. Check out the website below!
Youth Group.
For privacy reasons I am not naming where my youth group is, but I love going to these groups and sharing in ideas, struggles, strengths and simply life with wonderful people. I believe it is important to take time each week to share your life and to listen to others', and this is the perfect opportunity for me to do so.
Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center.
After attending the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Conference (APYCL), I learned about this senior center in Japantown, San Jose. I was truly inspired by the organization's work and how intimate the care is for each senior. Waiting to be picked up, I sat in the lobby and saw how each senior was welcomed like an old friend. I learned that a multitude of actives are planned out each day so as to give seniors the best stimulation and care as possible. As a result, I contacted my school art club and Yu-Ai Kai for a collaboration to teach a (hopefully monthly) art class.
